Meet the team…
Ed Brown – Landscape Designer
Ed began his career in 2000 as a landscaper. This gave him the practical skills that helped him complete a degree in Garden Art and Design in 2006. Since 2007 he has worked for Leeds Federated Housing Association as their landscape designer in the community development team. Ed has recently completed a post graduate diploma in Landscape Architecture at Leeds Met.
Ed Says…
“Good garden design is about transforming the garden to create an extra room in the house that will enhance any home. Quite often garden designers focus on fancy shapes and lines with little consideration for the practicalities. I aim to strike the right balance between form and function. Urban Green gives me the benefit of working with a diverse range of people, from individuals wanting to get the most from their garden to communities for whom an improved environment will make a real difference”.
Steve Simpson – Project manager
Steve began his working life in the building trade as a bricklayer, but decided on a career change in his late 20′s. After obtaining a degree from Liverpool John Moores University he began a career in housing. Steve originally worked as a support worker then moved into management at Leeds Federated taking the position of Estate Services Manager, setting up a new “in house” grounds maintenance team which was very successful. To expand the service Steve brought Ed to the organisation and together they developed the environmental improvement programme and completed a number of successful community based projects.
Steve Says…. ”Whether we’re working with a private client or a community, it is such a great feeling to develop a space. There is a lot of job satisfaction in doing the job well and making people happy.”
